Pipeline Matting and Cribbing Guideline (Universally Applicable)
Abstract ↓
The purpose of this Practice is to provide guidance on the proper use of matting and cribbing materials. Matting and cribbing are used to provide support for heavy equipment by distributing the weight of the equipment over a large area to avoid exceeding the bearing capacity of the ground upon which it is placed. This Practice covers general guidance for matting and cribbing and should be used in conjunction with equipment manufacturer’s recommendations, geotechnical consultants, general safety guidelines, and good engineering judgment. If there are conflicts between this specification, owner’s requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, the most stringent requirements shall apply.
